As of Thursday 3rd July the Capital Grant Scheme has reopened for applications following the sudden closure in November 2024.
The Scheme will offer three-year agreements to fund investment in key infrastructure and environmental improvements for farming businesses with up to £150 million available across England.
The 78 available options cover 6 groups:
- Air Quality
- Assessments
- Boundaries, Trees and Orchards
- Natural Flood Management
- Improvements
- Water Quality
The options remain largely the same as in the previous round, aside from the addition of items to assist with the assessment of woodland, creation of a wildfire checklist, repair of stone walls and hosting of educational access visits.
This round also sees the introduction of caps, with options in the water quality, air quality and natural flood management groups being limited to £25,000 per application and options for boundaries, trees and orchards being limited to £35,000.
Options include items such as:
- The planting and management of hedgerows and trees
- Installation of fencing of various types
- Livestock troughs and the associated pipework
- Farmyard repairs
- Covered buildings for manure, spraying and silage pits
Businesses may submit one application per SBI per year and can be combined with existing SFI and Countryside Stewardship Schemes and some air and water quality options may require the support of Catchment Sensitive Farming.

We very much advise anyone who may be interested in a Capital Grant to contact the BCM Wilson Hill team quickly to ensure their application can be submitted before funding is depleted.
